Project management

Protection
 
 

One of Hydro ECI most trusted expertise is to produce the protection studies for each site and to prepare the drawings, schematics and specifications related to the protection and control of the power equipment.
A complete in-depth engineering document package comprised by: protection, ground and arc-flash study, electrical and installation drawings, cable lists and bill of materials are provided for the electrical power equipment, line and generator protection panel and components, governor and control system cabinets. This comes fully integrated with the plant management and control software as well as its human machine interface (SCADA and/or HMI)

Site rehab
 
 

Upon the challenge of aged sites, Hydro ECI provides the most competitive rehab criteria, engineering, hardware, software and implementation to update to a reliable, fully supported electrical protection, controls and SCADA technology.
Our package comprises a turn key solution that includes detail engineering, industrial quality available parts, installation and cabling, programming, scada, communications and detailed documentation for operators and maintenance, plus the perfect opportunity to include all those features discovered necessary across your years of experience with the site.

Substation and equipment
 

Engineering services for substation control and protection including the substation major equipment such as transformer, breaker and main switch.

Switchgear
 
 

Switchgear equipment including neutral grounding cabinet, generator breaker and fused load break disconnect switch for 4.16 kV, 13.8 kV and 25 kV nominal voltages. Hydro ECI use products from Schneider Electrique, Eaton or others.

Excitation Voltage Regulation
 

The new digital automatic voltage regulators for static excitation systems or brushless generator exciters are more versatile but also more difficult to configure. Hydro ECI offers the engineering services to produce the appropriate settings, configure the devices required for your application as well as the commissioning work during site start up.

Governor
 
 

Hydro ECI own certified and tested PLC based speed governor (PLC-TG) has been developed to exceed the needs of all major turbine manufacturers while providing maximum flexibility and ease of maintenance.
A design fully compatible to all turbine types: Pelton up to 6 jets + 6 deflectors, simple/double regulating Francis, Kaplans with runner blade and wicket gates; plus standard Modbus-TCP communications and own HMI.

Automation software development

For increased flexibility and ease of troubleshooting our projects apply HECI Smart-Soft approach using programmable logic controllers (PLC).
This allows for I/O flexibility, reliable equipment response, operation and expandability.
Either under Function Block Diagram, Grafcet and Structured Text, but also upon customer request where ladder only versions of programs are required, Hydro ECI develops its controls using Modicon/SchneiderElectric, GE, Rockwell/Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC´s, and upon request using other major reliable brands.

Motor Control Center AC/DC distribution

Design, supply, installation and testing of all AC/DC distribution equipment for new or existing powerhouses.
Our product and services package can include size and feature calculation for service station equipment including: transformer, motor control center, AC/DC distribution panels, battery charger(s), battery disconnect switch, batteries and UPS, plus their configuration, installation and commissioning tests.

Shop testing and commissioning
 

HECI supplies shop or field tests to ensure that existing and installed equipment complies with specifications and is installed according to applicable standards.

Instrumentation
 
 

Determine the most convenient measurement method is key to prevent operation errors or downtime.
Our experience can supply to get or help you choose the most appropriate component for your application, being it level measurement method and range for accurate level maintenance or flow ramping, up to displacement for vibration calculation and analysis can extend component lifespan.

Networking
 
 

From a simple network up to a multi-VLAN, multi-protocol, switch-redundant double-ring, communication issues are one of todays most important parts to develop a robust and expandable solution.
A solid communications design helps to provide fault redundancy and expandability and also prevent excess or unnecessary traffic bottlenecks without loosing sight over a secured electronic access point (EAP) for remote connections.

SCADA, HMI and control center
 

Site and project specific operator interfaces (SCADA and HMIs) are designed and configured using reliable non-proprietary software.

Hydro ECI is a certified Wonderware integrator and also develops with Cimplicity, Citect, I-Fix, Ignition, Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens Win-CC, Red-Lion, Maple and Kep.

Trending / Data logging solutions

HECI offers crossplatform data logging solutions, not only through the main scada or the control center, but also through secured remote data collectors which are isolated from powerhouse operation. This allows for third party data acquisition and use through different owner powerhouses, park operators, government agencies, etc.
